Mom in Korea 2

As promised, here are more pics and details from Mom's visit.

While my mom was here I took a day of and we went up to the DMZ-still not quite sure what to think about the whole thing- it felt really strange to go "tour" such a place, but it was definitely interesting, and I definitely learned a lot.
These are our feet on North Korean land.  There are multiple buildings that straddle the border- here we are on the North Korean side.

Its a pretty intense situation, obviously.  The two sides stand staring at each other, separated by a low cement line that is about 3 inches high and 12 inches wide.  Actually, when the zone was first set up, there was no separation- both North Korea and South Korea wandered freely about the area.  There were a couple of attacks however and since then there had been and is a very clear division that no one dares cross.

After touring the DMZ we met up with Amy and hit a couple of the markets.

We stopped for some food at one of the MANY stands-- mom showed off her chopstick skills- much to the amusement of the others at the packed out stand.

Mom rocking out at the noraebong (private karaoke room)

And of course, no trip is complete with out a trip to Dr. Fish and popinsu at Canmore.
